I must confess, I RARELY read wall text whenever I visit a gallery or museum. This isn’t out of disrespect; however, I often find the literature is easily something I can research on my own and, often it’s redundant. What draws me to text is the poetry of it, its potential to transport the viewer and provide a narrative that expands the universe of the exhibition. Thusly, when it was proposed by @moad_sf that I should provide text to accompany #AMatterOfFact, I jumped at the chance to do just that. When you come to visit, I HIGHLY recommend you read the wall text and grab the exhibition brochure. There is a surprise waiting for you when you read through those words as you travel through the exhibition. I penned them with the intention of making the exhibition more than simply an accumulation of portraits. There’s a fantastical element to these words so that what you experience is a story that unfolds before you. I really hope you all enjoy it. #ToyinOjihOdutola
