One of several rivers we swam in in Karen State. During WWII this one was also a base camp for British troops as they fought Japanese forces in the nearby mountains. We stayed with the descendents of their camp cook who had died at 96 years old four years ago. TTY hey shared his story and an animist ceremony the following morning that I won’t soon forget. It featured rice wine, a chicken sacrifice and some damn good food. Bourdain would have been in heaven. #adventure #travel #karenstate #myanmar
