The federal government estimates that tens of thousands of endangered and threatened sea turtles are caught and killed in the Southeast shrimp trawl fishery every year. Luckily, there is a simple solution. Improved Turtle Excluder Devices (TEDs) – metal grates inserted into shrimp nets –save sea turtles, including those that are too small to be saved by the current TED. This #TurtleTuesday, tell the Obama administration to require improved TEDs in all shrimp boats in U.S. waters by visiting Oceana.org/TEDsForAllTrawls #seaturtle #oceans #takeaction #bycatch #conservation #environment
