Thursday, October 27: Don’t miss a rare opportunity to hear internationally known

Thursday, October 27: Don’t miss a rare opportunity to hear internationally known curator Paul Schimmel talk about the artist Lee Bontecou, whose untitled canvas and steel construction is one of the highlights of the museum’s contemporary collection. Mr. Schimmel is former curator of the @mocalosangeles, and currently a partner at @hauserwirth & Schimmel, the new and innovative art complex in Los Angeles. The museum lent its Bontecou work to the gallery earlier this year for its inaugural exhibition ‘Revolution in the Making: Abstract Sculpture by Women, 1947–2016.’ Paul Schimmel is a visionary curator renowned for his love of art and artists and his far-reaching, dot-connecting solo and group shows. He has organized major one-person retrospectives for artists Chris Burden, Willem de Kooning, Takashi Murakami, Laura Owens, Sigmar Polke, Charles Ray and Robert Rauschenberg; and thematic exhibitions such as ‘Helter Skelter: LA Art in the 1990s (1992)’ and ‘Destroy the Picture: Painting the Void, 1949–1962 (2012).’
