A lil’ Monday motivation. This past weekend I finally had some down

A lil’ Monday motivation.
This past weekend I finally had some down time to open my birthday gifts and this one given to me by our @sevenbucksprod coordinator Mike Conaboy, stopped me in my tracks — whoa.
When I was 14yrs old, while living in Hawaii, me and my mom came home one afternoon to our one bedroom apartment and there was an eviction notice on our door. She cried hard and I made a vow (literally in that moment) that I would work as hard as I could to make sure we were never evicted again. After she went and talked to the landlord, he was merciful enough to give us about 4 more weeks to get our shit together and pay the rent. (He was a good man, his name was Ken and I’ll always be grateful for his empathy). I told myself “Im gonna go to the gym every day and build my body because that’s what successful men do.. work hard with their own two hands”. Well that’s a great philosophy for a 14yr old, but one thing I didn’t account for was how damn hungry I would be by the time I got to the gym after school around 5pm. So every day I would walk roughly 5 miles to the gym. There was a 7-11 that was roughly at the midway point where I would go in and steal a king size Snicker bar for my pre workout meal. Every. Single. Day. I couldn’t afford buying one, plus I figured if I was gonna get caught I may as well go for it all and get the king size.
We were never able to get our shit together to pay the rent and we were forced to leave the island about four weeks later. Being evicted is hard core and ain’t fun, but if you’re going thru it, it may trigger something in you, like it did for me. I’m a far cry away from getting evicted these days but I still use my past struggles to motivate me to work even harder. Im sure I need a good therapy session or two but always keeping these memories in the forefront of my mind keeps me grounded and focused.
And always remember the most important part of this whole story, a KING SIZE SNICKERS is a damn good pre workout bar, if you can’t afford anything else. #mondaymotivation
