Architect Albert Frey was born on this day in 1903 // Frey House II, shown here, was Frey’s second home in Palm Springs, completed in 1964. At the time it had the highest elevation of any residence in the city; Palm Springs City Hall called his design “crazy” but finally gave approval for the 800-square-foot design that integrates the rocks of the surrounding hillside. Upon Frey’s death in 1998, Frey House II and its contents were bequeathed to the museum, along with an endowment for its preservation so that others could study and experience this masterpiece of desert modernism. : @bethanynauert for @palmspringsstyle
