For those of you who follow me, you may/may not know to the extent of the many various “jobs” I have…. I wear a lot of hats. But that is why I LOVE ❤️ being a dietitian so much!! One of the fun “jobs” I have is serving as the #SportsDietitian for @sheatraining athlete strength & conditioning back where I’m from (South Shore, MA). We’ve been working on really driving the importance of nutrition for these athletes and that cereal bars & sugary cereal does not ❌count as breakfast and leads to a sugar roller coaster of energy spikes/crashes all day! Well checkout the MAJOR improvements they have been making this summer – all with a little help of thinking about this easy to use concept ***PAIR PROTEIN FOODS WITH FIBER FOODS (aka complex carbs like fruits/veg/whole grains). When you go from skipping breakfast/sugary cereal bars and non-existent nutrition to now fully energizing meals – our athletes are SEEING a change and a difference in their energy, performance and meeting goals. Each week going into the school year, we’ll be featuring pics from “What Our Athletes are Eating”, because seriously we are so excited these wheels are clicking about the absolute IMPORTANT of nutrition for our performance (both physical performance, mental clarity, energy, mood, body comp, weight, and so so much more!) …. PS – Did anyone catch that ALL of these meals have a antioxidant rich smoothie as well?! NICE WORK!

We’ve been focusing on TWO KEY PIECES:
1) PROTEIN (animal and non-animal sources like chicken, fish, eggs, peanut butter, nuts, yogurt, cheese)
2) FIBER- rich foods (aka complex carbohydrates like fruits, vegetables, whole grains)
