I couldn’t tell you the amount of times I started a business or got to work on a project I was passionate about and thought was a game changer…only to find out nobody cared! That’s just part of the journey of being an entrepreneur and you can’t be too hard on yourself, not everything you decide to do is going to be winner or even work out…..the sooner you accept that the sooner you can start to see that every failure or set back sets you up for your next project & future success! So if you’re going to decide to start a business or create a product or service the first thing you want to work out is…will anyone care? You can have all the passion, resources, financing in place and be willing to hustle and grind every single day, but if you can’t sell your idea and get others to buy into your message and what you’re doing then it’s not going to be viable in the long run! So how do you work out if anyone will care about your idea, especially if you’re new to an industry or you have an idea which is new and unique to the marketplace? The first thing you want to do is do a little market research doc get some honest feedback from a range of people…not just friends and family! When I say honest feedback get them to find every possible flaw with your concept, prototype and delivery! The next thing you want to do is set up a meeting with 10 people who work in an industry or sector you want to sell into…this isn’t a sales meeting it’s an opportunity for you to talk about you’re idea and get feedback on how to sell into their industry & what they are looking for in that kind of interest! Be open and honest and be genuine about what you’re doing, ask questions and I f you’re new to the game let them know…don’t try to be something you’re not just yet! Finally do some research into whether their is a market for your product and if their is how are you going to relate your unique story, message and service to people who may be interested in what you’re doing! If there isn’t a market for your product then you will have to spend most of your time & resources educating the marketplace as well as selling…so keep that in mind going forward!
