I have lost 30,000 followers since I decided to not only post food and fitness pictures but things I like and care about on Social Media. Like many things I started this account as a passion. I shared photos and of course I was happy when people made my recipes and liked my other pictures as well. I felt appreciated. Then I noticed how posting certain types of photos got me more likes and certain less. You can guess which ones. Chocolate cakes and my body. Over the years some type of images I was sharing made me feel terrible. I’m not the type who walks around showing my belly or feels empowered from showing off my muscles… I guess looking for more likes was a cry for acceptance. Acceptance on Social Media? I mean how does that sound! Then I decided to accept and honour all passions of myself and I started posting different things I care about – dropping followers with every post. Do I care? Sometimes. But I have learned that loving and accepting yourself, helping others and sharing loved things. If I would only post fitness pictures or food posts I might be a popular food Instagramer or a fab fitness account. But I am not. I want you to know that popularity, likes and a large following does not lead to happiness. They do not make your life whole or your days any better. Please keep in mind the next time you’re scrolling through social media and see someone with tons of followers or likes don’t beat yourself up! Remind yourself that you do your own thing that makes you happy and other accounts should not change that. And yes, you actually can whatever you decide to do. YOU CAN!
