I’ve never seen such blue sky outside of Joshua Tree area. Every time I go there, the blueness of the sky slays me. I took this photo around 6pm inside Hidden Valley and didn’t edit it at all. This is just how it came out of my iPhone. Hidden Valley was apparently a secret rock fortress where horse and cattle thieves were hiding their bounty. Surrounded by tall granite boulders, this Valley garden was also lush with vegetation and a transition point for the many species in the area. Water from rains would trickle down the granite walls and help keep the small valley floor fertile. Up until a cowboy decided to dynamite blast an entrance into the valley, and now it’s not so secret anymore. Still, I was very much in awe to walk around it and imagine times gone by and the part it played in the American West history.
