Just got this issue of @freehubmag in the mail with this photo of @richieschley and myself going over the crabapple hits in the bike park when they were first built around 2002? Originally we thought it would be cool to have this pic shot of both of us in the air at the same time and get it published using a film camera and a remote but after looking at this shot all these years later and realizing that this image is pre- digital, pre-internet, and pre-go pro, and that this image is the same framing and visual concept of a go pro many years before it was created, that this shot is about the revolution of self publishing and people being able to share content. The hurdles of strapping a huge film camera with no preview, developing in a darkroom, and getting it published in a magazine, have changed to a tiny box that creates amazing images that can be self published right away by anybody for anybody. It shows the power of technology and the human desire to express ourselves with images.
