London’s annual Notting Hill Carnival has always been a jubilant spectacle of riotous colour, music and dance. Some of this year’s more poignant moments, however, were the minutes’ silences on both days of the parade, to remember the victims and their families of the Grenfell Tower tragedy. The charred remains of the building could be seen half a mile from the parade route. Around two million Londoners joined together over the bank holiday weekend to celebrate community and diversity at the legendary carnival.
