Nyanhial, 7, and her brother Ruay Pey, 13, have experienced things no children should ever see. Says Nyanhial, “Our cousin was killed when she was caught in a crossfire. We were very afraid … Now we are living in the same neighborhood as before, but we stay at another house because ours was destroyed.” Despite the #SouthSudan conflict, Nyanhial is holding on to her dreams of a future: “When I grow up I want to become a leader … so I can bring things to the people, things that are missing, like lights.” With the help of #BacktoLearning, a UNICEF-supported initiative to provide education to South Sudan’s most vulnerable children, she just may do it. #SouthSudanNow
