>>On World AIDS Day – December 1—we celebrate the progress made against AIDS in recent years. Since 2001, new HIV infections have declined by one-third and the number of people receiving HIV treatment has increased 40-fold. New infections remain high, however, among some populations. In South Africa alone, 2,500 girls and young women become newly infected each week. Our goal remains: Zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths.
