The great photographer @GilesClement was on site at the #NewportJazzFestival w his vintage #TinType cameras & took these photos of me. The flash was OVER 5000 watts, which explains why a lot of those old timey western photos have a wide eyed *shocked* look about them—it’s like being a yard away from the sun for 1/16th of a second. The negative image is on a sheet of glass that comes to life when you place it on top of a darker solid color. The profile shot is actually me strategically placing the glass in front of my face so that the left side is “ahmir in the 1800s (y’know dream a bit…had I been allowed to be able to take a photo in the 1800s no questions asked) & the right side is me in 2017 (really just coincidence we didn’t plan the trick shot)—so let’s call this #YeOldQuest in alternative reality.
