The pale light coming into the guest house is not something new to us. As children we eagerly anticipated the coming day, running through a dirt creek bed with dogs and waiting for meals like they were intermissions during a captivating play and we its main characters. Now we’re in our twenties, we share whiskey with Nana and talk politics briefly because our views differ still – but love prevails, we are still family. Our meals are often our treat now to them, a thank you for the years of childhood they gifted us in these woods. This little guest house all but 300 square feet, my own view coming from the built-in bunker bed that rests inside the side of the cliff. Just on the other side of my tired head at night – literal tons of earth and rock. I stretch my legs out in front of me, dangling them over the small coffee table just out of frame, look on to my sleeping older brother and the light incoming. It’s the first time in a long time I’ve slept more than 6 hours straight, and being well-rested is no longer something I take for granted. This weekend i return here after the days between being full and overflowing with work to be done. I am as calm as the soft rustle of the bed sheet from my brothers waking. #travel #go #writing #stories #nana #papa #explore #childhood #life #work #1924us #ventureonward #yes #mountains #forest #fog #rain #light #windows #lifestyle #home #coffee #mornings
