This is talk is a MUST for #Sacramento art fans! The Kingsley Art Club Lecture Series presents: ART HOTEL COMES TO KINGSLEY, on Wednesday, April 20, at 1:15 PM. The Jade Apartments, an abandoned building in downtown Sacramento, was slated to be demolished. M5ARTS received permission to transform the apartments into one of the largest non-institutional arts events in Northern California. M5ARTS is an arts initiative committed to creating culturally significant multidimensional arts experiences in downtown Sacramento. In this project, they organized 130 artists from around the world. They gave each artist a space in the building to create whatever they wanted, without worrying about poking holes in the walls or painting over bathroom fixtures. The ART HOTEL was only open for 10 days in February, still 13,000 people made their way through the HOTEL. But that left the rest of us with only newspaper reports. Not to worry. On April 20th, members of M5ARTS will bring the ART HOTEL to us – with amazing details about how the event came together, and slides and videos of works by the artists who transformed the run down rooms of an abandoned SRO apartment building to the most happening event in Sacramento. Don’t miss it! . Space is limited, and reserving tickets in advance is recommended. ? $5 for college students, $8 members, and $12 for nonmembers. Click the link in our bio to find tickets on our website event calendar! ? [Andrew Nixon / Capital Public Radio]
