Vipers and most snakes in general get a bad rap which is hugely misplaced. This Eastern Cottonmouth from #EvergladesNationalPark in Florida is accused of being highly aggressive and chasing people. Of course this doesn’t happen. Snakes want no confrontation with people and will do their best to get away, or remain camouflaged. The cottonmouth gape or the rattlesnakes rattle are defense mechanisms, not signs of aggression. People and snakes can easily coexist with a little education. One of the most rewarding aspects of photographing snakes for me is having people tell me I changed their perspectives on these beautiful animals. #followthefrog #rainforestalliance #viper #respect #conservation
