What is the face of modern Britain?
For me as an EU citizen, that happily lived in the UK for many years is the rich multicultural diversity of Britain’s urban life. A tolerant society that embraces all people regardless of their background, religious beliefs and lifestyles.
Under the shadow of the recent racist incidents following the referendum of the 23rd of June, I would like to show you a series of portraits that I did in 2015 in Brixton.
Portraits of shopkeepers in front of their shops in Brixton Arches, a multicultural, colourful market that serves a diverse neighbourhood. Those long established, independent shops have been serving the local community for generations, and in 2015 where under threat of eviction due to a proposed redevelopment of the area.
